In North Macedonia, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the country’s Parliament stating that since the world is divided by wars and economic rivalries, India’s ancient tradition of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ means making bridges rather than walls.

On the second leg of her three-nation tour, she addressed the North Macedonian Parliament on Tuesday saying that no nation can prosper in isolation.

"India's ancient civilizational ethos is rooted in the principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,' which signifies that the world is one family. When the global landscape is torn by conflict and economic divides, this philosophy calls for building bridges, not erecting walls."

The President remarked that democracy is not merely a system of governance but a shared article of faith that unites India and North Macedonia. India's Parliament reflects the aspirations of over 1.4 billion citizens and gives a democratic voice to a nation of extraordinary diversity.

President Droupadi Murmu said, "Guided by our Constitution, the Parliament embodies the principle that India's diversity is not a hindrance to democracy, but rather one of its greatest strengths." The President stated that India's general elections represent the largest democratic exercise in human history. The successful conduct of elections amidst such vast geographical, linguistic, and cultural diversity stands as a testament to the resilience of India's democratic institutions and the faith our people repose in the electoral process.

President Droupadi Murmu met North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova in Skopje and discussed bilateral relations at a meeting at Villa Vodno, IANS reported. The leaders discussed opportunities of cooperation in economy, education, science, culture, tourism, health and digital transformation.

President Murmu and President Siljanovska-Davkova reiterated their commitment to further strengthening India-North Macedonia relations. Prior to the meeting, President Murmu was accorded a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour.
