Investing during Diwali is considered to be lucky for investors, and the usual practice is to perform Muhurat Trading for a short while on this day. However, during the past one year, investing in the Sensex has been disastrous for investors as it has not yielded any returns. Gold retains its luster, and property investments are not disappointing investors either.

According to the data collected during the last one year, the Sensex has lost 11% of its value. During November 2024 and November 2025, the Sensex has risen by almost five percent. At present, the BSE benchmark index stands at 74,459 while last year at the same time, the Sensex was at 83,978. So, the Sensex has lost 11.33% of its value in one year.

In the beginning of November 2024, it was at around 80,000. The rise in crude oil prices due to the crisis in West Asia and the rise in federal rates has encouraged investors to take interest in the dollar and crude oil; hence, the sensex cannot rise in the current scenario.

Meanwhile, the price of gold has risen by about 12% in the last one year, and at present, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold is estimated to be around ₹1.41 lakh in the Delhi bullion market.

On November 1st of last year, this price was ₹1.24 lakh. In November 2024, the price of gold was ₹80,000, and those who bought gold that year saw a 50 percent profit.

Meanwhile, various property market surveys indicate that investors in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, particularly those investing in homes priced between ₹10 million and ₹1.5 crore, have seen returns of at least 7-8 percent over the past year.

Shivansh Pathak, director of real estate company Divyansh India, said that in the past year, properties priced under ₹2 crore in Delhi-NCR have seen a 15 percent increase, while homes priced above ₹2 crore are seeing a 7-8 percent return due to a healthy supply chain.

Despite the continued decline in the Sensex, investors in SME IPOs, which began in 2012, are still seeing returns. Shrikant Goyal, managing director of GetFive Fund, which is involved in IPOs, says that SME IPOs are generating returns because these companies have significant room for change in their business size and infrastructure, and this is already happening after listing.

While investing in this IPO, it is important to carefully understand the company's future strategy and their work. SME IPOs have given a return of 3 percent in the last one year and 190 percent in the last three years.

Saya Group Managing Director Vikas Bhasi said, "In view of the turmoil in the gold, silver and stock markets, investors are once again returning to real estate. In the last one year, house prices have increased in 47 cities and real estate remains strong."
