A conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump lasted for about 40 minutes on Tuesday. After this conversation, a statement from Sergio Gor, US Ambassador to India, was also issued.
Modi made this announcement through Twitter following the conversation. This announcement by Modi was appreciated by Gor, who termed this conversation extremely positive and significant.
When asked about India's role in ending the Middle Eastern war during an interview on NDTV, he said that the US will be happy to have India involved.
Gore said, "The United States would welcome their participation, just as it has welcomed the participation of many other countries." However, he also added that India would have to decide for itself what it wants to do.
Gore further said, "Frankly, this is a question for India. I think the whole world can play a role in the peace process, and that includes India."
Regarding a future India-US deal, Gore said, "We have a number of big and important issues to address," and hinted that some announcements on trade and bilateral issues could be made in a few days, but he declined to specify what those announcements would include.
Gore further stated that Trump and Prime Minister Modi spoke for about 40 minutes. Gore added that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit India next month, ahead of President Trump's proposed visit to India.
