Cotton is one of the crops produced during the Kharif period. In order to provide help to cotton farmers, the government has announced financial aid of ₹14,000 per hectare for input costs. Applications have already been open from i-Khedut portal from 10 July 2026. This scheme will be helpful for farmers as well as for the textile industry that provides employment to numerous people.

Under Cotton Productivity Mission (Cotton Revolution Mission), the central government has begun a new mission for the period 2026-27 to 2030-31. Under this mission, Gujarat has done a noteworthy initiative for the farmers. This year, ₹134.80 crore has been sanctioned for Gujarat under the mission. Under this mission, the objective is to cover 100,000 hectares in 21 cotton growing districts of the state.

According to information, it has been decided to provide input assistance of ₹14,000 per hectare to farmers sowing cotton at a distance of 90 cm x 30 cm under the Closer Spacing Technology. Additionally, farmers cultivating cotton using the Integrated Crop Management (ICM) system, maintaining a distance of 90 cm x 60 cm, will receive assistance of ₹7,500 per hectare. It should be noted that a farmer can avail the benefits of this scheme for a maximum of two hectares in a financial year.

This scheme is for farmers in Gujarat. To avail the benefits, farmers must use government-certified cotton varieties or approved Bt cotton seeds. The farmer ID registration of the beneficiary must also be complete.

Eligible farmers can apply online on the i-Khedut portal. The online application process has been started from July 10, 2026. The government's effort is to promote cotton cultivation and provide financial assistance to farmers. This will also reduce the textile industry's dependence on imported cotton.
